Our History

Life Church of the Nazarene got its start in 1938 when Pastor Trevor Gray moved to Watertown and invited evangelist Fred Suffield to hold a revival.  The people that got saved became the charter members of the new Watertown First Church of the Nazarene.  That first generation of members purchased a house on Boyd Street that became their church (downstairs) and parsonage (upstairs) for the next twenty years.

The second generation of members built a cement block building on the same property (behind the Great American grocery store) and worshipped there for another two decades while buying property for future expansion.

The third generation built on that Thompson Boulevard property and added to it a decade later.  From there the members of Watertown First Church planted the church in LaFargeville.  Today we continue growing and expanding.

In 2007, our church established a ministry north of Watertown.  We changed our name to Life Church of the Nazarene, because instead of only ministering in Watertown, we now had a pressence in the Fort Drum area.

We are looking forward to a bright future in God's will as we expand the ministries in Watertown and in the Fort Drum area.
The current generations of Life Church of the Nazarene have a long and proud spiritual history in the North Country.  We can't wait to see what God will do next!
